An independent Organisation
The Sun User Group (SUG) is an independent group of individuals and organisations who use Sun products, and aims to provide highly interactive and focused exchanges.
It represents members' interests and provides an opportunity to meet with developers, consultants, academics and end users from diverse organisations in addition to senior key/corporate executives from Sun. The Sun User Group aims to enable members to improve their working knowledge of Sun products, and therefore to maximise the return on their investment.
Have a Voice
As a member, you will gain a voice in the Sun Community and the opportunity to interact with other Sun users, and benefit from sharing common user experiences and best practices.
In addition, on this website, you will find a source of relevant news, articles and press releases, a technical Q & A panel, as well as a diary of events.
Cancellation of Event Thursday 25th 2007
A lot of our members have expressed their desire to attend a Sun Microsystems event the day before, Wednesday 24th at the same location, concerning Sun’s newly announced strategic partnership with Intel which is obviously of key interest to most of our members . As we are a group who are solely responsible to the majority of our members wishes we have reluctantly decided to cancel our Thursday event as the Sun event is proving to be so popular.
Please see http://uk.sun.com/sunnews/events/2007/sep/sunintelevents/.
Please note that there is another event running Thursday morning at the same location that includes a presentation by one of the speakers who was scheduled to present at our cancelled event, Dr, Clive King, please see http://www.makeitfly.co.uk/agendaevent3.html
Apologies again for cancelling our event but we hope you will find at least one of the above events is of interest to you and many thanks for your continued support of our group .

News of the last meeting - Thursday JULY 19th, 2007.
The meeting was well attended and the committee would like to thank all who turned up.
Unfortunately, due to illness, our temporary administrator was not able to send out confirmation emails to all those who said they'd like to attend. We would, therefore, like to extend our apologies to all of those waiting for their confirmation emails. We'll try to do better for the next meeting on Thursday October 25th.
Phil Cracknell, unfortunately, could not attend (due to a medical rather than technical bug). We were fortunate to secure the services of David Walker (one of Sun's security experts) who gave a very interesting talk on the application of Trusted Extensions. David's demo seemed to impress most of those who attended.
For those interested in David's presentation, a PDF file of the slides he used will be posted to this site very soon.
David's talk was followed by Simon Bain, who showed that XML can be used to great effect as a data manipulator between back-end databases and front-end GUI displays. A link to Simon's presentation slides will soon be added to the site.
The meeting was followed by wine, beer and snacks and a lot of discussion and networking (of the people kind :-).
